One of the best ways to detect breast cancer at its earliest stages is through 3-D mammography.
Monongahela Valley Hospital (MVH) hopes that by adding a soothing atmosphere and some glamour to the process of getting a mammogram, local women will be encouraged to have their annual preventative screening at HealthPlex Imaging in Rostraver Twp.
The staff at HealthPlex Imaging will host ‘Mamm & Glamm’ on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Monongahela Valley Hospital HealthPlex. The event offers women the opportunity to have their mammograms, then enjoy free pampering services such as massages and paraffin hand wax treatments. Staff will provide a light breakfast and lunch, plus treats and other refreshments.
"We are really excited this program has returned. Prevention is so important in detecting breast cancer,”said Mary Ann Konsugar, HealthPlex Imaging manager. “We've reached many who were postponing their exams or who had never had a mammogram."
The facility offers 3-D mammograms, which improve the ability to detect breast cancer in dense breasts and generally lower the amount of callbacks and additional tests.
HealthPlex Imaging also offers women the opportunity to walk in any day for a mammogram without an appointment and without a prescription. HealthPlex Imaging has office hours Monday thru Saturday, with extended hours Tuesday evening.
