Women undergoing radiation for breast cancer at Mon Valley and Jefferson Hospital are receiving a comforting asset from all volunteers that help in making dignity robes.
Dignity robes are made at Our Lady of the Valley Church by parishioners and volunteers from the Mon Valley.
Those who receive these robes as cancer patients appreciate the personal gift of care that goes into making each robe, and they get to keep the robes. In two years, the group has made over 300 robes, led by Rita Demeter and Vera Klein, both residents of Carroll Twp. who initiated the project.
Volunteers meet the 3rd Friday of each month from 9 a.m. to noon in the social hall of Our Lady of the Valley Church except during winter months. Volunteers are needed to sew, cut, iron and etc. We need more volunteers, and monetary contributions are also appreciated. For more information about volunteering or donating, call Rita at 724-565-1244.
