Health

The Mon Valley YMCA is hosting a yogathon on Sunday, October 8 from 9 – 11:30 a.m.

Debbie
Debbie McKita Kurtis

The Mon Valley YMCA Debbie McKita Kurtis Yogathon celebrates the passion for good health through yoga, commemorates the life of Debbie McKita Kurtis, and supports the enrichment of youth programs.

Leading this class are area instructors Brittany Mucy, Tanya Chaney, Irené Beliso, Ashley Selva, Amaera Felder, and New York City instructor Patricia Kuharic.

Debbie was a Y member who passed away far too young from Leiomyosarcoma but left those who knew her with a reminder to smile, be joyful, find the good in everyone, and to share love and kindness. She also had a passion for finding good health through fitness and making others who attended group fitness classes glad they came.

The cost is $15 per person with all proceeds benefiting youth programming at the Mon Valley YMCA. The Y’s youth programming allows that every child in the community has access to the Y's youth and teen initiatives, regardless of financial means.

Participants are asked to bring their own mat. T-shirt orders are now being taken.
