 Updates in Renal Disease, Electrolyte Disorders and Hypertension will be the focus of Monongahela Valley Hospital’s 27th Annual Medical Staff Symposium, Wednesday, Oct. 26, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Hospital's Anthony M. Lombardi Education and Conference Center.

 The symposium is designed to educate physicians, nurses and other health care professionals on the latest treatment regimens for Cardiorenal Syndrome, the newer therapies for hypertension, drug strategies and dosing for patients with renal failure, clinical outcomes of mild chronic hyponatremia and the risks associated with eCommunication. 

The program includes:

  • “Cardiorenal Syndrome” presented by Robert Heyka, M.D. , Cleveland Clinic
  • “New Guidelines and Update for Hypertension” presented by George Thomas, M.D., Cleveland Clinic
  • “Nuances in Drug Management in Renal Failure Patients” presented by Kristine S. Schonder, PharmD, University of Pittsburgh
  • “New Developments in Managing Electrolyte Imbalance” presented by James R. Johnston, M.D., and Helbert Rondon, M.D., University of Pittsburgh
  • “eCommunication: The Potential and the Pitfalls” presented by Curt Solomon, CPHRM, NORCAL Group

Monongahela Valley Hospital is accredited by the Pennsylvania Medical Society to provide continuing medical education for physicians. This live activity is designated for a maximum of 5.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™ In addition, MVH will provide 5.0 CEs for nurses in accordance with Pennsylvania Professional Law Section 12.
