Looking for employment? The Mon Valley Job Fair is the place to be!

This annual event has been bringing employers and jobseekers together since 2001. Last year's job fair connected over 50 employers with over 300 job candidates. Individuals seeking employment need to mark their calendar for the 2014 Mon Valley Job Fair, being held Thursday, October 2 at the Willow Room on Route 51 in Belle Vernon, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Mon Valley Job Fair is a joint effort, bringing education, business, government, commerce, and community agencies together to connect Mon Valley area employers with eligible job candidates. This year's planning team consists of: Bureau of Workforce Partnership & Operations; California University; Community Action Southwest; Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce; Mid Mon Valley Transit Authority; Mon Valley Initiative; Mon Valley NAACP; PA CareerLink Mon Valley; Southwest Training Services; and Westmoreland Community College. Monongahela Valley Hospital has been a proud sponsor of the Mon Valley Job Fair for many years, and continues as a Gold Sponsor for 2014. Teleperformance is also a 2014 Gold Sponsor. Representatives from sponsors will be available on the 2nd to discuss available career opportunities. To obtain a list of all participating employers, please contact the PA CareerLink Mon Valley.

Success starts here! To prepare for a successful job fair experience, Community Action Southwest has partnered with Southwest Training Services to offer a free workshop on September 29 at 1 p.m. 'Making a Job Fair Work For You' will help individuals maximize their potential when speaking with employers and provide keys to success that will strategically place attendees above others at job and career fairs. If you need assistance in writing a professional resume, a resume-writing workshop is available on September 25 at 1 p.m. In addition, free shuttle service is being provided by Mid Mon Valley Transit. Riders simply need to board a transit bus anywhere in the Valley and inform the driver they wish to go to the job fair. You can also pick up a shuttle at the PA CareerLink Office at 570 Galiffa Drive in Donora.

Bring resumes, dress appropriately, and be prepared for onsite interviews. No admission fee for job seekers. To register for workshops, call PA CareerLink Mon Valley at 724-379-4750.

Employer registration is still open. Space is limited, so register now.
