The Mon Valley Regional Chamber of Commerce (MVRCC) will honor the accomplishments of two local businesses, a non-profit organization and an outstanding individual at Monongahela Valley Hospital’s Anthony Lombardi Conference Center on Thursday, September 12, 2013 at its annual Awards Event.
The Headstart Classroom in Charleroi is part of Community Action Southwest.

Shamrock Chemical will be awarded the Chamber’s Excellence in Business Award. Shamrock Chemical Company was founded in Charleroi in 1959 by John McGinley, and has evolved into a complete building and supplies entity providing lawn care, janitorial service, minor building maintenance and snow removal.

The Chamber’s Outstanding Business Development Award will be given to World Kitchen of Charleroi. World Kitchen, LLC. is a global company that manufactures and distributes bakeware, dinnerware, kitchen and household tools, range-top cookware and cutlery. The living wage jobs and benefits that the employees enjoy at the Charleroi plant is a crucial part of the Mid Mon Valley’s economic vitality; World Kitchen has always been a major employer that is proudly known as “The Home of Pyrex.” The current plant manager is Dale Reuben.
Each year the Chamber gives a Regional Service Award to a non-profit entity that contributes to the quality of life in the Mid Mon Valley, and this year the award will be bestowed upon Community Action Southwest. CAS serves both Washington and Greene Counties, and provides a myriad of social services to the region, among them the Headstart Program facilities located in the area. Darlene Bigler, Executive Director will accept the award.

As always, the final award of the evening is the Shining Star Award which will be presented to William “Bill” Lee, who serves as the mayor of Speers, and is currently a consultant for Lee Supply. His work in the community and his professional career will be lauded on September 12. The Chamber selects an individual that displays outstanding personal and professional attributes, shows a commitment to his/her vocation, helps to advance the mission of the Mon Valley Regional Chamber, and promotes the Mid Mon Valley community at large.
