The South Hills Chamber of Commerce will host the South Hills Small Business Institute’s series of workshops presented by the Pennsylvania Department of Labor throughout the year.
All workshops will offer a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m., and the workshops will run from 9-11 a.m. at the Crowne Plaza, 164 Ft. Couch Road, Bethel Park, across from South Hills Village.
On March 6, the first workshop titled “It’s Not My Fault-I Didn’t Know” will cover the new rules and regulations in the Unemployment Compensation section for 2013. On April 3, the second workshop “So That’s How It Works” will cover a mock hearing and such topics as job offers/suitable work. For other topics to be discussed in this session, go to the www.shchamber.org. Register by April 1.
The workshops will be presented by Alan Robinson, Chief of Customer Services for the Office of Unemployment Compensation (UC) Benefits. Robinson and his staff work to design programs and initiatives that foster positive relationships with employers and employees by explaining the benefits sections of the Pennsylvania UC law, assisting employers and employees who are involved in mass layoffs and working closely with Pennsylvania Career Links to assist the unemployed become reemployed.
