‘WONDERFUL WEDNESDAY’ DINNER - The California United Methodist Church is hosting it's free monthly "Wonderful Wednesday" dinner on April 3rd, at 6:00 p.m., at 227 Third Street, California, PA. (It's located across the street from the Dairy Queen). Bring a friend and join us for food and community. GIANT OAKS GARDEN CLUB MEETING - Thursday April 4, at 11:15, at St. David’s, 905 McMurray Road. The program (1 pm) this month is features Gary Van Gelder of the Western Pennsylvania Orchid Society will be our speaker.  He will explain the many varieties of orchids and their care.  He will also have some orchids for sale.  Guests are welcome to come to the lunch and program.  Guests need to register by calling Donna at 724-470-6170.  The luncheon fee is $6.

EASTER DINNER -  Monongahela Senior Center is having an Easter Dinner on April 5 from1:00PM – 4:00PM.  There will be an $8 admission fee to cover Easter Dinner, drinks, snacks, DJ, games with prizes, door prize, 50/50, and tip boards!  Please stop in to sign up or just give Mickelina a call at the Senior Center at 724-258-9511.   The Monongahela Senior Center is located at 102 West Main Street in Monongahela.

GALLERIA SPRING ART SHOW  - The Galleria is hosting a Spring Art Show Friday, April 5 through Sunday, April 14. The show is located at The Galleria Mt. Lebanon, 1500 Washington Rd, Mt Lebanon, PA 15228 throughout the first floor of the mall. Show hours are Monday through Saturdays, 10:00AM to 7:00 PM and Sundays, 12:00 noon to 5:00PM. Several art leagues including South Arts Pittsburgh, Whitehall, McMurray Art League, Bethel Park Art League, and Photo Section will be participating. Please check out a variety of original artwork and photography by local artists. Artwork and photos are framed and ready to hang in your home or given as a thoughtful holiday gift. Cards and matted prints are also available. Cash, checks or credit cards accepted. PA LICENSE TO CARRY EVENT -  PA License to Carry a Firearm Satellite Event, Saturday, April 6 from 9:00AM – 3:00PM at 925 Old Clairton Road in Jefferson Hills.  The event will be first-come, first-serve.  It is important for all (new and renewal) applicants to have a valid PA ID or Driver’s License, a completed application, and $20 cash on hand. It is important that applicants bring a completed application to ensure efficiency in the process for all attending the event.  Also, we will only be serving residents of Allegheny County. In addition to issuing licenses, the Sheriff’s Office will also have a representative from our opioid reduction program, Project D.U.M.P., on-site to take expired and unused medications. However, we will not be accepting glass bottles, liquids, syringes, inhalers/insulin, or creams.  For more information, call 412-382-2009.

SPAGHETTI DINNER FUNDRAISER - A spaghetti dinner fundraiser is being held for local residents Dana Givens and Justin Patterson who recently had a house fire.  The fundraiser will be held on Saturday, April 6, from 2:00PM to 6:00PM at the California Hill Gun Club, located at 150 California Road, in Brownsville. The cost for adult dinners is $12 and children under 10 will cost $8.  There will also be a Chinese Auction and 50/50.

SOUTH HILLS COIN CLUB - The monthly meeting of the South Hills Coin Club will be held Tuesday April 9, 2024 at 7:30 PM  at the Bethel Park municipal building located at 5100 West Library Ave, in Bethel Park, Pa. All members and the general public are invited. This months program will be Canadian Tire. A 50/50 will be offered and childrens prizes to be awarded. CLOTHES 4 U - The Clothes 4 U ministry of the First United Church, 200 State Street, Belle Vernon, will be open to the public on Tuesdays April 9 and 23 from 9a.m.to 12 noon .  We do not charge for our clothing.  We are strictly donations in and donations out.  We will be putting out  spring and summer clothes starting in April.  Boys, girls, and men's clothing are needed at this time.   Thank you for helping us help the people of the Mon Valley  You can call the church at 724-929-4696 for more information.

GIFT BASKET EVENT - A Gift Basket fundraising event to benefit the Bentleyville Lions Club will be held on Saturday, April 13 at Hugo's Restaurant, located at 687 National Pike W., in Brownsville, PA.  Doors will open at 11:00AM.    There will be over 100 baskets, as well as games of chance, a 50/50 and D.J.  Ticket costs $25 and you will receive 25 basket tickets and lunch from 1:00PM to 2:00PM when baskets will be pulled.  Tickets must be purchased in advance at Bentleyville Medicine Shoppe, or Dr. Stoupis D.M.D.'s office, or from any Bentleyville Lion member.    You may also call 724-288-7359.  Must be present to win.

ROSTRAVER SPORTSMEN - The Rostraver Sportsmen and Conservation Association located at 539 Cedar Creek Rd. in Belle Vernon, Pa. will hold their monthly meeting on Monday April 15. 2024 at 7:30 PM. ‘COUNTERFEIT MONEY’ DISCUSSION - The monthly meeting of the Mon Valley Coin Club will take place at 7 p.m. Thursday April 18 at VFW Post 1409, located at 793 E. JEWELRY SALE FUNDRAISER - The Belle Vernon Public Library will hold a two day Jewelry Sale at the library on April 19 and 20 as a fundraiser.  All items in the sale are donated from the community with a variety of costume, semi-precious and novelty jewelry. Some pieces are vintage from names you would know. The first day is a presale event on Friday from 6:00PM – 8:00PM with a $5 admission fee which will entitle the purchaser a sweet treat from Sarris candy which the library has as an on-going fundraiser. The sale continues on Saturday from 9:00AM to 4:00PM when the library closes. That day is open to the public to browse and buy as they desire. FREE SHREDDING EVENT - Saturday, April 20 from 10:00AM – 12:00 noon at the Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Department located at 101 South 1st Street in Elizabeth Borough.  Consumer fraud and identity theft are a significant concern.  To raise awareness and to promote prevention, this event is being held to give individuals the opportunity to have unneeded documents destroyed, FREE of charge.  Document shredding will occur onsite with the shredded paper later to be recycled.  This event is for individuals only.  No businesses please.  There is a three(3) box limit per car.  Paper only please.  No binder, binder clips or books.  For more information call 412-664-5200, or send an e-mail to Kathy.osman@pasenate.com

HARMONY SINGERS IN CONCERT - The Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh are pleased to present “The Music of Life” a musical revue for our 57th season!  Performances are scheduled for Sat., April 20, at 4:00 p.m. and Sun., April 21, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Avenue, Bethel Park. SPAGHETTI DINNER - Knights of Columbus Monessen Council #954, in conjunction with Epiphany Ladies of Epiphany of Our Lord Parish, will be holding a spaghetti dinner on April 21, 2024 at our Council Hall located at 1925 Grand Boulevard, Monessen. Dinner will consist of spaghetti, meatballs, green salad, bread and dessert.  Dine-in seating will be available from 11:30 AM until 5:00 PM on the 21st.  Take-out service will also be available.  Soft drinks and water available separately.  Home-made spaghetti sauce will also be available for $9 per quart. ELECTION DAY SPAGHETTI DINNER -  A "Take Out Only" Election Day Spaghetti Dinner will be held on Tuesday, April 23, at Mingo Presbyterian Church from 12:00 noon to 6:00PM.  Dinner includes spaghetti with meat sauce, salad, Italian bread and dessert.  All dinners are $12. SHOW PERFORMANCE -  “DEATH AND TAXES” or “The Peasants Are Revolting!” at  Long Branch Community Grange. Travel with us into the Middle Ages when peasants toil, rats frolic and the king is….well, king!  Pestilence and disease aren’t the only thing that are deadly;  we hear that tax season might kill you too!  Tickets for dinner and a show are just $40 and can be purchased from any of the Grangers or by calling 724-938-2529 or 724-469-2736.   The Grange is located at 210 Chestnut Street, Coal Center, Pa 15423.

BOOK AND JEWELRY SALE - West Newton Library will hold their first ‘Fill a bag for $5’ Book and Jewelry sale on April 27, from 8:00AM – 2:00PM in the parking lot of the library, located at 124 N. Water Street in West Newton.  Rain Date is May 4. Please stop at the table, pay your $5 and receive the shopping bag.  Then fill it to the brim!  We have adult hardcover and paperback, non fiction, biographies, children’s books, audio tapes, and DVD’s. Our storage unit is full.
