Valley Garden Club Vice President Angela Raitano critiques flowers as part of a horticulture workshop held at the Club's June 12 meeting.

Vice President Angela Raitano led a horticulture workshop with specimens that members brought from their gardens. The purpose of the workshop was to demonstrate how best to display horticulture specimens in a Standard Flower Show. The Club will hold their next flower show in 2016.

In May, the Club travelled to Plum Borough for a tour of Plumline Nursery, in lieu of a regular monthly meeting.

The Club also met in April for their annual cleanup of the YMCA Garden in Charleroi, followed by a business meeting and bag lunch. The actual cleanup had to be deferred for a few weeks due to rain. Officer Chris Bergman of the Wildlife Management and Conservation Division of the Pennsylvania Game Commission gave a presentation on the habits of the Eastern Coyote, the largest canine found in Pennsylvania.

After a summer break, VGC will hold their next meeting on September 10 at the Lynwood Lutheran Church in Belle Vernon. For more information on the Valley Garden Club, contact Pam Gregor at 724-930-7151.
