Mid Mon Valley Cultural Trust Art Competition Entries to be Displayed in July.

Entries for the Mid Mon Valley Cultural Trust (MMVCT) art competition will be displayed starting Saturday, July 1 with a kickoff at SPHS during Community Days in Charleroi. Craig and Craig will play live music from 1-4 p.m. and light refreshments will be served as we celebrate local art talent in the Mon Valley. This is the first art competition sponsored by MMVCT and was open to residents in the Mon Valley area.

Winners will be announced on July 1 in the four age categories, and votes for the People’s Choice winner can be made that day with a donation of $1 per vote. It will be an opportunity for area artists, as winners, to have their work published in a box of cards, going with the theme “Happiness is a Box of Cards” in addition to cash prizes.

The exhibit will be available for view from July 1 to July 14 at SPHS in Charleroi and will move to Rostraver Library from July 17 to July 28 and Monessen Library from August 5 to August 17. Voting for the People’s Choice Award will be available online at https://www.mmvct.org/ and the winner will be announced at the end of the final exhibit. Orders will be taken to reserve an all occasion “Happiness is a Box of Cards” limited edition on July 1 and on the website.

Judges for the age category winners will be Suzie Sparks, A. Parker Burroughs, Lenora Palonder, James B. Bove and Mary Ann Kopach-Laber. Information for all the judges can be found on the MMVCT website.
