Read more...The Knights of Columbus Council 3026 is asking for assistance in a shoe collection for third world countries.
Gently used shoes of all kinds, as well as new shoes, are being collected and will be sent to third world countries, where they will educate interested parties in the care, repair and sales of shoes. Please drop off shoes, sneakers, work shoes, sandals at any of the following churches: Holy Family—West Newton; St Anne—Rostraver; St Sebastian—Belle Vernon; or Seven Dolors—Yukon. Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
“An Evening Visit With a Pioneer Family” is the featured program for the August 22nd meeting of the Peters Creek Historical Society. The presenter is Betty Amato, a retired elementary education teacher and current president of the historical society.

Goldie the African penguin and her handlers from the National Aviary had a great time educating and entertaining the kids on Wednesday, July 6th at Monongahela Area Library. Goldie the African penguin was accompanied by Austin the European kestrel, Melon the parrot, and their handler, Mia.
Dr. Gary Cartwright, an orthodontist with offices in McMurray and Bethel Park, recently awarded four $500 scholarships to four high school seniors; two girls and two boys.
