The 6th Annual Roctober Car Cruise will be held on Saturday, October 4 from 12- 4 p.m. at 501 Vine Street Park, West Newton. Registration begins at 11 a.m. and entry fee is $5. There will be dash plaques and goody bags for the first 100 registrants. We will have 35 trophies awarded by a panel of judges and a cash award and special plaque donated by Area 51 Auto.

Over the last few years, there have been a couple of instances of fairly large aircraft landing on too-short runways (at the wrong airport) and of near misses around airports. The Federal Aviation Administration has plans in the works. At the October meeting of the Retired Men's Luncheon Group of Pleasant Hills, Henrik Vejlstrup of the FAA will discuss Next Gen, a new high tech way of controlling air traffic. Mr. Vejlstrup flew as a pilot for 23 years before joining the FAA 18 years ago.

Members of Mon Valley Quilt Club have been plying their craft for over 26 years. The public will have the opportunity to view their works at "Quilts for All Seasons" quilt show October 3-4, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at Perryopolis Bible Baptist Church, Recreation Center, 3378 Pittsburgh Rd., Perryopolis.

The 13th Annual Peters Township Bowling Fundraiser will be held Sunday, October 19 at the Meadows Racetrack Bowling Lanes, 210 Racetrack Rd., Washington. Registration will begin at 11:15 a.m. and the bowling is set to start at 11:30 a.m. All profits go to Angels' Place.
