State Senator Matt Smith (D-Allegheny/Washington) and Bethel Park officials met with County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to take a closer look at Brightwood Road and talk about county plans to reconstruct the road later this year.

A resident who travels Justabout Road on a regular basis told Peters Township Council that a section of the roadway is hazardous. At their February 9 meeting, Ed Courtney of Springdale Road relayed to Council that there are drop-offs along the road as deep as 18 inches that have reached the stage of becoming quite treacherous.

Representatives of the local Pennsylvania Equine Council were granted permission by the Nottingham Township Board of Supervisors to use the municipal building for a meeting on Saturday, March 15. The all-day meeting with workshops, which will begin at 7:30 a.m., will be open to the general public, and will be attended by area equine group members interested in improving the horse riding trails in Mingo Park.

Ice and road salt were the focus of much of the Feb. 3rd New Eagle Council Meeting. With a cold and messy winter still dragging on, Council commended the street department for doing such a great job. Council assured residents that salt supplies are continually being replenished, and a plentiful 800 tons of salt will be ordered for next season.
