The Township of South Park held its regular meeting on November 9th at 7 p.m.

AAA awarded South Park Police Dept. the 2015 Community Traffic Safety Platinum Award

Prior to the meeting, the Township held two public nuisance hearings to decide if two houses would be deemed public nuisances. It was decided that the house on Highland Ave. and the house on Grove Rd. are both considered nuisances.

There was a motion to ratify the release of a bond in the amount of $8,632.80 to guarantee the completion of a sanitary sewer extension, located at 1649 Amanda Ave.

The letter of agreement by and between Mackin Engineering Company and South Park, which provides for the terms and conditions of the review of the update to the gas and oil ordinance by Mackin Engineering Company, at a cost not to exceed $2,000, was approved.

Two fire hydrants will be placed at the intersection of Riggs Rd. and Maria Way and between the addresses of 114 and 116 Maria Way. The Township has looked into the terms and conditions for the installation of public fire hydrants and will allow the Pennsylvania-American Water Company to install the hydrants.
In other news:
• There were two resolutions authorizing the filing of two applications for funds with the Allegheny County Department of Economic Development for the Cardox Rd. storm water improvements project and for the Administration Building’s automated doors.
• An action on a snow removal agreement by and between the Township of South Park and Quality Rentals was made to provide winter maintenance services to the major subdivision identified as Bonnie Dell Acres, Phase 3, Decker Dr.
• The request submitted by Southersby Development with regard to modifications/ waivers to the subdivision identified as the Della Strada Phase 2 Subdivision off of Riggs Rd. was approved.
• Bids for the sale of South Park’s 2010 Ford Crown Victoria, will be opened on Thursday, December 10 at 10 a.m. The minimum acceptable bid for the vehicle is $1,000.
• The Grove Rd. Storm Sewer project, Phase 3, will be completed by Independent Enterprises Inc., in the amount of $30,500.
Finally, in a wonderful way to cap the evening, the township announced that AAA awarded South Park Police Dept. the 2015 Community Traffic Safety Platinum Award, for being one of the safest traffic areas. The Township’s police department has won this award in the past four years.
