Pennsylvania State Representative Ted Harhai of Monessen marked his 60th birthday this month with a celebration of plenty of fun and fellowship.

State Representative Ted Harhai of Monessen poses with his 91-year-old mother, Dolores, at his 60th birthday party.

Held in the Farnham and Pfile Hall in Monessen, the 200 guests included relatives, close friends and colleagues.

His mother, Dolores, age 91, and Godparents, Jean and Ed Lane, were present. The party was hosted by his brother, John; sister, Kathy; and Rosalie Nicksich. Congratulations were read from his two other brothers, Tom, of York, and Ken, of Houston, Texas.

Former State Representative Bill DeWeese was Master of Ceremonies as a procession of folks either "roasted" or "toasted" the guest of honor.

Gary and Denise Zwicki of Monessen gave him a campaign button from 1998, when he successfully ran for mayor of Monessen.

John Pallini compared qualities of Harhai to his late father, John B. Harhai. "Your father would be very proud of you today," George Essey and Eugene Maisano commented.

Accolades and comments were offered by many, and oldies music was provided by D. J. Ralph Trilli.

A graduate of Monessen High School and Carnegie Mellon University, Harhai completed graduate work in investment banking and formerly worked on Wall Street as a bond trader. Harhai is currently serving his 18th year in the State House of Representatives, Harrisburg.

Humbled by the outpouring from those present and messages from three dozen other who could not attend, Harhai said he was "very appreciative."
