Library News

Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center is selling the "Enjoy Coupon Book" as a fundraiser to support the operations and activities of the library. Books are available for a $30 donation at the front desk. Another great gift idea is the "Book Lover's Calendar", which contains a year's worth of great authors, great books and great reading. The calendar is available for a $10 donation at the library.

The annual October Book Sale at Monessen Public Library & Cultural Center has been postponed. However, there is a continuous book sale being stocked weekly, located in one of the side alcoves of the annex reading area.

Fall Storytime will be held on Monday, November 3 and 24, at 6 p.m. in the Children's Room. The theme for November 3rd will be "National Candy Day" and the theme for November 24th will be "Thanksgiving."

There have been inquiries about holding an informal get-together for parents and home-schooled students at the library to introduce, network and share information. If interested, please leave your contact information with the reference librarian or circulation staff member.

Due to the Veterans Day Parade on November 8, Clare McMullen will host her monthly "Beginning Genealogy" class on Saturday, November 15 at 11 a.m. in the Pennsylvania Room. She will discuss "Family Holiday Traditions" and their importance in genealogical research. Please bring photos of family holiday experiences and information on your family holiday traditions to share with the class. The class is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The Mon Valley Genealogy Forum will meet on Monday, November 17 at 5:30 p.m. in the Reading Area of the library. In honor of Veterans Day, the group will view the oral history of Abe Wilen. The session is open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Come to the Library on Saturday, November 1 from 2 - 4 p.m. for a "Raise Your Voice" fireside musical performance.
