The Borough of West Elizabeth is mourning the loss of one of its most dedicated public servants, Lisa Morris, who passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, January 22, 2026. Her passing leaves a deep void in the community she loved and served throughout her life.
Morris was born and raised in West Elizabeth and a graduate of the West Jefferson Hills School District. Her commitment to public service began with the borough’s road crew and the sanitary authority. She was also a long-time member of the West Elizabeth Volunteer Fire Department and faithfully served as a crossing guard for more than 20 years. In countless ways, she strived to make West Elizabeth a safer and more caring place to live.
Her passion for service led her to local government, where she was elected to the West Elizabeth Town Council and later appointed Vice President. In her leadership role, Morris helped oversee numerous borough projects that focused on community improvement and public safety. Her work was always guided by what would best serve the people of West Elizabeth. During the holidays, she organized parties and activities for the children in town and helped families in need obtain food and gifts. It was important to her that no one in the community felt forgotten during the holidays. Throughout the year, whenever someone reached out for help, Lisa responded. She worked tirelessly to connect residents with the support they needed.
Lisa Morris devoted much of her life to the community of West Elizabeth. Her legacy of kindness, leadership, and unwavering service will not be forgotten. West Elizabeth has lost a remarkable neighbor and friend, but her impact will continue to be felt in the streets she helped maintain, the families she supported, and the children she cared for so deeply.
