The Brentwood High School Interact Club, sponsored by the Rotary Club of Pleasant Hills, recently celebrated the dedication of a Peace Pole on the Brentwood High School campus.

The project, led by the Brentwood Interact Club, serves as a lasting symbol of peace, understanding, and goodwill. Peace Poles are monuments displayed throughout the world bearing the message "May Peace Prevail on Earth" in multiple languages, reminding communities of the importance of respect, unity, and global cooperation.

The dedication ceremony brought together students, school officials, Rotarians, and community members to celebrate the completion of the project. The Brentwood High School Jazz Band provided music for the event, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Chris Weaver, Brentwood's Interact Club sponsor, was recognized for his support and guidance throughout the project. Under his leadership, students embraced the Peace Pole initiative and worked to make it a reality for their school and community. Incoming Rotary District Governor Michelle Petrell addressed those in attendance, speaking about the power of service, youth leadership, and Rotary's commitment to building peace both locally and around the world. She commended the students for their dedication and reminded them that even small acts of service can have a lasting impact.

The highlight of the ceremony came when Brentwood students Nia Aten and Fatimah Ismael unveiled the Peace Pole by pulling away the ceremonial covering, revealing the monument for all to see. The moment was met with applause as attendees gathered around the newly dedicated symbol of hope and peace.

The Peace Pole reflects Rotary's long-standing commitment to promoting peace and understanding. For the Rotary Club of Pleasant Hills, the project also represents the strength of its partnership with local youth and the important role students play in creating positive change within their communities.

"We are incredibly proud of the Brentwood Interact Club for embracing this project and seeing it through to completion," said Rotary Club President Cindy Weiss. "This Peace Pole will stand as a reminder that peace begins with each of us and that our young leaders are helping build a brighter future."
