Walkers at 2026 New Life Options Walk, walked from the park gazebo on West Main St., to City Hall and back.

The New Life Options Walk for Life Fundraiser was held on Saturday, May 16, 2026, in Chess Park, Monongahela, and they were successful in their turn-out in that 120 people walked that day at 11:00AM, while 150 altogether attended. The event continues to grow each year through the number of attendees as well as by activities in which to take part. The very first Walk for Life started in the 1990’s, and locations have changed a few times until settling on where it is now.

The event also did more than raise very much-needed funds for new parents, supplying essentials such as diapers, clothing, and parenting education. The walk benefited the community by helping and equipping families, because strong families make the community a better place.

According to Executive Director of New Life Options, Melissa Rohm, “When a community visibly shows up for vulnerable families, it sends a powerful message, you are not alone here. That kind of culture has a lasting ripple effect in the Mon Valley and beyond.”

Entertainment at the event featured at 12:00 noon, “The Sparrows” band. Then, at 1:00 pm, “The Valley Three” band. An additional performance was held at 2:00 pm by “Heritage.”

The Center is a free pregnancy resource place that provides information needed to make informed decisions about reproductive health choices. Besides Rohm, also active in aiding families at the Center are Janice Johnson and Ali Tomich, Client Services Representatives. Johnson and Tomich offer therapy and support. An Earn While You Learn Program is recommended for clients to do training services while earning. For more information, call Tues. – Thurs., 9:00AM – 4:00PM at 724-258-7277.

When asked what a young woman could do when faced with an unplanned pregnancy, Ali and Janice implored, “Don’t be discouraged. New Life Options is here for you. Let God use that baby. You never know how He’ll use that baby.” Remember, also, God created us all in His image. The two representatives added that they provide amazing referrals.
