On Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 12:00 noon – 2:00PM, a Valentine’s Day Party was in full swing at the Monessen Center for Active Adults, with approximately 30 people in attendance. After the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer, lunch was held at noon, with breaded fish, mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes, and pineapples. Next, members played a “Name That Tune,” game. And everyone guessed the names of songs and artists to the love songs played.

Monessen Center Manager Gary McDonald read announcements for upcoming activities. Participants agreed that the center has enough activities to keep themselves busy. Member Evelyn Pappas says that Gary is very sociable among attendees. Volunteer Alice Caird, who has been at the center for about 9-10 years, commented, “I love working here, and to entertain the people.”

The DJ played lively songs, beginning with “Roll Out the Barrel.” The music was mostly love songs in honor of Valentine’s Day. Everyone enjoyed themselves, singing along and clapping to the songs. Attendees were also encouraged to get up and dance. The Valentine’s Party is just one of the many events members enjoyed at the center.
