The Level 5 Power TeamGym squad from Gymkhana Gymnastics took first place at the Power TeamGym National Championships held in Pigeon Forge, TN on June 25, 2016. This is Gymkhana Gymnastics of Bethel Park’s first national championship.

At the meet, the team earned a score of 18.2167, which placed them first ahead of six other teams from gymnastic clubs nationwide. In order to qualify for the National Championship, teams had to score at least a 16 at meets held during the regular season. The Gymkhana team qualified for the championship at two different meets.

Coached by Adam Mannheimer and Brianna Conroy, the Level 5 Power TeamGym Squad was made up of Abigail Diel, Melanie Hendrick, Megan Malecki, Larissa Mannheimer, Morgan McNary, Rachel Niesen, Kylie Schaum, and Lily Thompson.

This is the first time the team has competed at Nationals; however, they have been very successful at many regional competitions. They have competed and placed at events in Maryland, New Jersey, and across Pennsylvania. The team has also performed at numerous local venues and events, such as Washington Wild Things baseball games, the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh and University of Pittsburgh gymnastics meets.

Gymkhana’s Power TeamGym is a gymnastics team where athletes of all ages compete together as a group of 6 to 14 gymnasts. Competitions are held using the floor, mini trampoline, springboard, and vault equipment. A synchronized group floor routine is also performed, consisting of tumbling passes and partner tricks. Gymkhana’s Bethel Park location has been running this program, affiliated with USA Gymnastics, for nine years.
