The 4th Annual Monessen Fall Festival took place on a seasonally picturesque day at Monessen City Park Amphitheater on Saturday, September 30 from 12 – 4 p.m.

Pictured (l-r) are Amphitheater Committee members Karla Spangler, secretary; Matthew Shorraw, president; and Karen Lewitsky, treasurer.

The day featured big band music of The Wally Gingers Orchestra, and there were a variety of local vendors, pumpkin painting, face-painting, and more. Also included was the 2nd annual Monessen Pie Bakeoff. The winner of the bakeoff was Deanna Held.

A returning favorite food vendor was RP’s BBQ by Ron Painter and family with ribs, chops, hot dogs, etc. Other vendors included: a South Hills-Mon Valley Messenger vendor booth, Farmer’s Insurance, Stitches from The Heart, and Cathy’s Corner. A thank you goes to Joseph’s Nursery, who donated mums which sold for $8.

Karla Spangler, secretary of the Amphitheater Committee, directed the festival and said, “I think the event will go really well. We have the perfect fall weather, a lot of vendors, and the band is good.”

Karen Lewitsky, treasurer, added, “I think the festival is getting bigger every year. The kids love it. It’s a prelude to our “Trunk or Treat” event.”

The committee members were both correct, because the festival did go well—another success for the Amphitheater Committee!
